Since we last published a newsletter, so much has happened. Tulane has over and over demonstrated our motto, translated as “not for one’s self, but for one’s own” as we came back together as a community this fall. Thanks to a heroic effort from so many, Tulane was able to stand up its own testing facilities and contact tracing, using science to allow us to safely teach in-person instruction in the fall. Alumna Charlotte Beyer Hubbell has contributed $3 million to the Department of River-Coastal Science and Engineering.

Shantz

The U.S. Department of Energy and Israel’s Ministry of Energy will work to develop new technologies for the fossil energy, energy storage, and energy-water nexus sectors.

 
Students

With a NIH grant, four biomedical engineering students spent the summer transforming their idea into a winning design.

Hamm

The Louisiana Material Design Alliance (LAMDA) is established which includes LSU, Louisiana Tech, Southern University and University of Louisiana-Lafayette.
